Trial
On June 12, 1994, O.J. Simpson was first accused of the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, when their bodies were found. Then on June 17, 1994, O.J. was formally arrested and charged with two murders.
This trial lasted from January 1995 to October 1995.
This case featured extensive DNA evidence. This includes the infamous moment when the glove appeared not to fit Simpson. A glove with blood stains on it, that matched a glove found at the crime scene, was found at Simpson's estate; however, when Simpson tried on the glove during the trial, it seemed to small for him.
Simpson spent millions of dollars on a defense team, known as the "Dream Team," which included celebrity lawyers.
The defense argued police misconduct and racial bias, while the prosecution linked Simpson to the crime.
When the "not guilty" verdict was delivered, there was a deep division along racial lines, making this a landmark case in American legal and cultural history.
