This literature review is a nine-page synthesis essay that examines the issue of mathematics and physics being    male-dominated both statistically and in terms of image, the need to change mathematics and physics education in order to support more women entering the two fields, and the need for male culture to change in order for matheamatics to become more equitable for both sexes.
