Relationships Between Mental Health and Social Media: Literature Review

In recent years, the flow of information has been rapidly increasing alongside technology. Specifically, social media, a relatively new form of communication, has become a major component of the digital flow of information. About 3.96 billion people are using social media which accounts for 51% of the world population (Henderson). So, the mass effect of social media on the human population is significant due to the sheer influence of the platforms.

Virtual Time Tracker

Virtual Time Tracker monitors a users virtual time spent on their phone. It always the user to set a long term goal of reducing their time on social media or on their phone in general. The app allows the user to create a customizable avatar and receive in game cash to buy apparel from the store. The user can engage in a ranking system among friends in a competition of who has the strongest digital wellbeing. Also, the app encourages users to not use the app and their phone through an offline tracking system as a check to ensure the user follows their schedule. The time normally spent on a mobile device is encourage to be replaced by healthy activities. These activities can be placed on your in app calendar along with resources to help begin new activities.
