We request that you contact the rectory shortly after the baby is born. Both parents must be interviewed by the priest. Sponsors are to be practicing Catholics who attend Sunday Mass every week. Sponsors are also to be confirmed.
Sacrament of the Eucharist
As Catholics, we believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, that the Bread and Wine truly become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ re-presented in the Crucifixion at every Holy Mass. While all are welcome to receive a blessing at Communion, please be sure to follow the Norms for Reception of Holy Communion located in the Missal.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Classes are held each Sunday after the 10:30 am Mass at Church of the Assumption. They will take place upstairs in the Parish Life Center. Please contact the Church Rectory for more information or to sign up.
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
Weekly OCIA classes are held on Mondays at 6:10 pm upstairs in the Parish Life Center of the Church of the Assumption. We invite these individuals to attend these gatherings: adults who have not been baptized adults who were baptized in other Christian denominations adults who have not yet received First Confession, First Communion, or Confirmation or adults who want to learn more about the Catholic Faith. Please contact Ricky Pellerin at (337)828-3869 for more information. All inquiries are most welcome.
Sacraments of Healing
Sacrament of Penance
Saturdays 3:30 pm - 4:15 pm at Church of the Assumption
Weekdays 30 minutes before Mass
Sunday 30 minutes before Mass at St. Joseph Church
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
Please call the Rectory to make arrangements for Anointing of the Sick. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient.
Sacraments of Service
Sacrament of Matrimony
Arrangements are to be made with the priest at least six months in advance. To avoid schedule conflicts, all wedding dates held at the Church of the Assumption or St. Joseph Church must be confirmed with Father Joel Faulk, who should be the first contact of the couple. Please pick up a Wedding Guidelines Booklet at the parish office for details of paperwork and preparations requirements.
Sacrament of Holy Orders
If you feel called to a Vocation in the Priesthood, Diaconate, or Religious Life, please contact Father Joel.
Rite of a Christian Burial
Our Catholic Faith teaches the infinate value of the Sacrifice of the Mass for the repose of the soul of the departed loved one. Church Law states that the Mass of Christian Burial is properly celebrated in Church (Cannon Law #1177). A Service of the Word may be celebrated at the funeral home if the decision is made not to have a Mass.
