Back in Church for Mass!
With phase 1 of the Corona Virus going into effect Friday, May 15th, we will be able to return to public celebrating of Mass in the church starting this weekend, May 16th and 17th, at our normal times (Saturday Vigil at 4:00 and Sunday at 8:00 and 10:00). We are allowed 25% of a building's seating capacity. Our capacity is 776, so that means that we can have up to 194 people at each Mass, which is more than we have for most regular Masses anyway, so I don't think that should be a problem.
For the time being we will continue to celebrate (and live stream) daily Mass at 7:30 Monday - Friday. Starting Monday, May 18th it will be open again for the public to attend in person and receive Holy Communion.
The same precautionary protocols remain in effect for Mass attendance:
At this time no one is obligated to attend.
Those who are sick should not come to Mass so as to avoid spreading illness.
The elderly and those at higher risk due to underlying health conditions are encouraged to stay home and not come, but that choice is up to each individual.
We will continue to live stream the 10:00 Mass on our Facebook page or on the webside at www.churchofassumption.com .
Please maintain appropriate physical distance, wear a mask, and bring your own hand sanitizer.
We ask that you receive Holy Communion in the hand, but you may receive on the tounge if you wish.
Pews will be roped off so as to use only every other pew.
The cry room will be available but should be used ONLY for extreme need. I'm not bothered by a baby making some noise during Mass and neither should anyone else. After all, this is a parish community, not a monastery, we want children and their parents at Mass. If the baby starts screaming bloody murder, that's the time to utilize the cry room or the back vestibule area or even step outside of church with the child.
Hymnals and missalets have been picked up and will not be available for use.
Bulletins (if we have them in) will be handed out at the end of Mass only. You shouldn't be picking them up and reading them in church before or during Mass anyway.
The Saturday Confession schedule will return to its regular time from 3:00-4:00. Weekday Confession times will now be on Tuesday afteroons from 5:00-6:00 and on Thursday mornings from 7:00-7:20.
Perpetual Adoration Chapel
The Perpetual Adoration Chapel will reopen starting this Monday, May 18th at 7:00a.m.
