OVERALL GOAL
Students will build a collaborative mindset through team work and try to solve real world problems. They will focus on different roles when working in a team and participate in hands-on activities. Students will be introduced to foundational vocabulary commonly used in STEM. They will strengthen their ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills; nurturing their creativity, collaboration and problem solving skills. Students in these grades will refer the Engineering Design Process while participating in problem-based projects and we will begin to make career connections in STEM.
UPDATES
February Week 1:
5th
Students are testing skimmers and collecting data. Students needed an extra week because they missed class.
6th
Students are working with a hydraulics kit to create a crane arm that can complete a task with ping pong balls. Students brought in materials and are beginning to construct them.
7th
Students are designing a structure in Minecraft from their current social studies unit. Students have completed their physical design sheets and are creating them digitally.
8th
Students are currently completing the tutorial and first mission on the ISS Space Mission Simulation.
