During the first week of school, students had fun seeing old friends and prior teachers, but they also met new friends and new teachers. Although most would never admit it, they seem happy to be back in school and in a routine again.
All students in this class spent time reviewing the novel they read over the summer, and then completed a short quiz on their selected book. On Thursday they will review the vocabulary words they should have studied over the summer, and will take that quiz on Friday.
I believe we are off to a great start and I am looking forward to a wonderful year with this special group of students, many of whom I had in homeroom last year. They are a really great group and I am excited about all we will accomplish together this year.
All middle school teachers have a standardized late work policy designed to promote responsibility
and time management skills that are essential for academic success.
Students who fail to submit homework or practice assignments will receive a zero with no opportunity for makeup credit. This policy encourages consistent daily engagement with course material.
Late submissions will be accepted within one calendar week of the original due date for a maximum of 50% credit. Work submitted after this date will receive a grade of zero. Students must notify teachers via email when submitting late work—Google Classroom messages do not fulfill this requirement.
Missed quizzes and tests due to absence must be completed upon return or within one week for extended absences. It is each student’s responsibility to schedule makeup assessments.
