We are thrilled to have you join our program for the 2025-2026 school year!
Registration for the 2025-2026 school year opened on
August 7, 2025.
If you are interested in enrolling, please contact Mrs. Dotterweich at
extendedcare@stjoanarc.org to discuss enrollment.
While we are currently at capacity, we may still be able to accommodate your child based on your needs.
We’re excited for the new year, but please note that there are some changes from previous years. Please read the following carefully:
Registration Required:
All students must be registered each year and have an updated emergency contact form on file before attending before-care or after-care.
Emergency form link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17MtJ7tWd67U7GVI6ekiPCjzKBVAE7I-Q/view?usp=sharing
MSDE & AOB Guidelines:
We adhere to the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Child Care regulations and Archdiocese of Baltimore (AOB) guidelines.
Drop-In Students:
Those who are registered as a Drop-In student must request the day they need 48 hours ahead of that day. You will receive an email from extendedcare@stoanarc.org letting you know if we have the space that day. Please use the tab at the top of this page for Drop-In to find the link to make your request.
If you need to contact staff during Extended Aftercare Hours, please:
Call: 410-272-1387, Extension 227 between 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Email: extendedcare@stjoanarc.org any time .
Our staff will monitor emails regularly.
Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:50 AM
Before Care provides a safe and welcoming environment for students who arrive early. Students may bring a small breakfast or snack to enjoy during this time. Quiet activities such as reading, drawing, or board games will be available.
Students are dismissed to their homerooms at 7:45 AM when the school day begins.
Registration Required:
All students must be registered and have an updated emergency contact form on file before attending Before Care. Drop-in attendance is not permitted without prior approval.
Drop-Off Procedures:
Before Care drop-off is at the Law St. doors. Please ring the doorbell when you arrive. You will be buzzed in.
Parents or guardians must escort students to the door and ensure that staff have acknowledged their arrival.
Your child will walk themselves down the hall to the Music / Art room.
Students may not be dropped off unattended before 7:00 AM.
We look forward to starting each day with your child in a calm, caring, and positive environment!
Hours: 3:10 PM – 6:00 PM
Status: FULL — No additional regular monthly registrations (needing aftercare everyday) are being accepted at this time. However, if you need aftercare on occasion and want to be a drop-in student, please email extendedcare@stjoanarc.org. We may be able to accommodate your needs but this will be decided on an individual basis based on the day or days you may need.
Aftercare students are dismissed directly to the program at the end of the school day. Weather permitting, students will enjoy outdoor play and free time. Snacks will be provided and eaten outdoors or in the Pre-K classrooms, depending on weather conditions.
Homework time will be offered when staffing permits in the Pre-K 4 classroom. During homework time, students who do not have homework or choose to do their homework at home, will participate in activities in the gym or Pre-K 3 classroom.
Students may use electronic devices for homework purposes only.
All other non–school-related use of electronics—including cell phones, tablets, iPods, iPads, and similar devices—is not permitted during Aftercare.
Extended Care staff reserves the right to confiscate electronic devices if they are being used during unauthorized times or inappropriately.
A daily snack will be provided to all Aftercare students. Each student will receive one pre-packaged snack per day.
Pick-up takes place in the large parking lot off of Plater Street.
Please come to the Pre-K 3 outside classroom door and use the doorbell if needed.
A parent or authorized adult must sign the student out before leaving school grounds.
Once a student has been picked up from Aftercare, they may not return to the program that day.
Hours: 12:05 PM – 4:00 PM
Students who will be staying for the half day aftercare should be "registered" using the link "Half Day Sign Up& Lunch Order," so that we know how many students to expect and can determine staffing needs.
Students are checked into Aftercare at dismissal. After all students are checked in, we typically have lunch. Lunch is often ordered on half days.
An email with a Google Forms link for lunch orders will be sent no later than one week before each half day.
Students registered in monthly aftercare are guaranteed a spot for half-day extended care with no additional fee.
Drop-in students must request care and receive email confirmation of available space. Drop-in students will be charged accordingly.
Lunch orders will incur an extra cost and will be billed through FACTS as an incidental charge. Lunch sign-up is done via the Google Form accessible through the tab at the top of this page titled “Half Day Sign Up & Lunch Order.”
Please note: Late fees will begin accruing at 4:05 PM.
Our Aftercare program ends promptly at 6:00 PM. All Aftercare students, parents, and staff are expected to be out of the building by this time.
We have experienced challenges with compliance regarding the 6:00 PM pick-up time. While we understand that emergencies or unexpected delays may occasionally occur, late pick-up is not optional.
Late Pick-Up Penalty:
A fee of $5 per minute, per child will be charged for late pick-ups. For example:
1 minute late = $5
2 minutes late = $10
15 minutes late = $75
The school building is used by many groups and requires cleaning each evening, so we cannot extend aftercare beyond the scheduled time. Additionally, we want to respect our aftercare staff’s personal time.
On Half Days, late fees begin accruing at 4:05 PM.
Discipline: We follow the schoolwide PBIS program.
We respect each other, the school and church grounds, the playground, the gym, and all toys and supplies we use in extended care. We are responsible for cleaning up after ourselves, and conducting ourselves appropriately at all times. We will be leaders with our words and actions.
We will make every effort to help students be successful in our extended care program. However, it is a privilege to use extended care. Students who are not able to consistently behave appropriately, will not be allowed to continue.
