"Einstein’s Definition of Education: "is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."
This refers to the experiences, values, lessons learned and education outside the classroom - This is where sport has a critical role to play.
Welcome to the Boys' College Cross Country Club
Master in Charge Message
Cross-country has been given a fresh, new approach at the College.
The idea is to create an improved image for the Cross-country athletes. Without depriving all boys of wanting to run, we strive to have an elite team of committed and dedicated runners who have a passion and talent for running. We aim to have time trials for runners to qualify prior to the winter season. Incentives via an ‘elite’ t-shirt can be achieved for the fastest times run around the ring road.
We have decided on a motto for Cross-country “Grit for Fit”. There is also a Cross-country policy that I believe will guide the athletes by providing a set of expectations to adhere to throughout the season. Besides the set fixture list, the idea is to motivate the athletes to participate in trail runs, night races and parkruns. We also aim to participate in the derby days with the other winter sports. We have a team of experienced coaches, Mr Gregory Carter and Mrs Cheron McConnel, who are committed to making Cross-country one of the best sports St Stithians has to offer.
The ultimate aim is to develop a love for running that becomes part of the boys’ everyday life. This will be possible with the right opportunities, training programme and incentives.
