Our 1st X1 played against St Davids on the Dlamini oval. We received the very sad news that Mr Andries Dlamin who was our Groundsmen and curator for close on 40 years passed away. Both St Stithians and St David’s honoured Mr Dlamini with a minutes silence before the match. What followed would have made Andries smile down from heaven..

St Stithians batted first and got off to a flying start with Reuben du Toit putting the St David’s bowlers to the sword. Reuben scored a brilliant 124 runs of 80 balls. Two wickets fell and Richard Seletswane joined Reuben at the crease, soon the ball started disappearing to all parts of the ground. Richard dominated every bowler and scored a sensational 185 off only 96 balls. After Reuben was dismissed a debutant in Luhan-dre Pretoruis joined Richard at the crease. From ball one Luhan-dre attacked the bowlers. He scored a whirlwind 107 off only 57 balls. Three superb hundreds helped St Stithians reach an incredible 501/6 after 50 overs. In 33 years coaching schoolboy cricket I have never witnessed anything quite like this…. 501 runs in 50 overs!!

St David replied with 209/6 in 50 overs, with Esosa Aheivba picking up 2/22. St Stithians won by 292 runs.
