The first ever cricket match was played against St Peter’s in 1953.

A professional cricket coach was first appointed in 1958.

In 1968 Saints participated in the Nuffield week for the first time.

In 1970 Honours were awarded for the first time, although the first colours had been awarded as early as 1957.

On the 1971 Cricket tour to Rhodesia, Dewes took 9 wickets for 11 runs against Allan Wilson School. (Has this feat ever been equalled or bettered? - Ed.)

In 1975 Saints reached the finals of the Johnny Waite Knock-out Competition and in 1983 Saints won this competition.

In 1977 Mr Baytopp had the honour of bowling the first ball on the new turf wicket. In the same year Roy Pienaar was selected for the Transvaal Senior B-side, whilst in 1978 he captained the Transvaal Nuffield side and in 1979 the SA Schools Cricket team.

Two years later C Benadie captained the Transvaal and SA Schools teams as opening batsman.

In 1983 Dave Rundle was capped for SA for the second consecutive year.

In 1984 C Nolte captained the Transvaal Nuffield XI.

In 1986 Mackay-Coghill & Pretorius represented Transvaal in the Nuffield Week. Roy Pienaar, Dave Rundle and David Terbrugge (1994) all played subsequently for the Proteas.
