In August 2026, we agreed a school motto:
Be Kind, Be Tue, Be You - TPS Together!
Our School
Thornhill Primary School is situated in the rural community of Thornhill in Stirling - a community of approximately 550 people. The primary school has a role of 91 pupils across P1-2, P2-4, P4-5 and P6-7 classes. We work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere where parents and members of the community are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school.
In October 2025, we worked together as a school community to develop and update our vision, values and aims.
Equity, Inclusivity, Honesty, Perseverance
These values and Getting it Right for Every Child underpin life in our learning community.
Our aims take account of the learners’ entitlements and the four capacities and reflects the uniqueness of our setting. We have also considered the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, Getting it Right for Every Child, 21st Century Skills, Learning for Sustainability Target 2030, the seven principles of curriculum design, curriculum areas, learning and teaching approaches and personal supports available to children. Our curriculum provides equity of opportunity and maximises the successes and achievements of our learners.
At Thornhill Primary School we aim:
To provide an equitable, safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel they belong
To foster social responsibility, support children to build empathy and respect for others, nature, their local area and the wider world
To empower children to bring about positive change
To offer a broad and balanced curriculum which allows children to explore the connections between people, communities and issues
To support children to develop skills for the future, an enthusiasm for learning and their personality, talents and abilities
To develop independent learners who are curious, demonstrate resilience, determination, and perseverance in pursuit of their goals and recognise that making mistakes is part of learning
To work in partnership with parents, partners, and the wider school community to support children
