St Modan’s is a Catholic Comprehensive High School, committed to nurturing all of our young people physically, socially, morally, spiritually and intellectually - a school where, through the promotion of Gospel values, all young people and staff thrive, and have opportunities to grow in wisdom and grace.
As a community of faith and learning St Modan’s High School is committed to the education and nurture of all of our young people in a welcoming, inclusive and Christ-centred environment. United by our core values our mission is to develop every young person physically, socially, morally, spiritually and intellectually so that, through the teaching and promotion of Gospel values, each and every person grows in wisdom and grace to be the best they can be.
In partnership with our families, parishes and Primary schools St Modan’s High School aims to create a community of faith and learning where…
· Gospel values sit at the heart of all our policies, actions and interactions
· dignity and respect are accorded to all
· there is a culture of high expectations and praise
· achievements are shared and celebrated
· all are encouraged to grow in wisdom and grace
and where all young people…
· feel included
· are able to access a curriculum which meets their individual needs
· are nurtured, encouraged, supported and challenged to be the be the best they can be
· make the most of their God-given talents
· are happy
The St Modan's community is very proud of its rich heritage and traditions.

St Modan's High School in Barnsdale Road, St Ninians was officially opened by Archbishop McDonald of St Andrew’s and Edinburgh on 5 September 1933. The school was built to serve the secondary pupils of Stirlingshire, Bannockburn and Cowie.
It opened with a roll of 410 pupils and was one of the first Catholic Secondary Schools to be built in Scotland after the 1918 Education Act. During the war years and afterwards the school continued to grow, reaching its maximum size of over 1200 pupils when the school leaving age was raised to 16 years.
Since the reform of local government in 1996, the school has found itself in the unique position of serving pupils from three local authorities: Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling. Over this time, the school roll has settled between 8880 and 935 - an ideal size as it is big enough to provide a wide range of courses but small enough to enable good relationships to be established between staff, pupils and parents.
The school moved to its present site in August 2008.

Faculty of Arts, Culture and Health – including Art and Design, Music, PE and Home Economics;
Faculty of Maths, Science and Technology – including Maths, Sciences, Computing and Technical subjects
Faculty of Language and Society – including English, Modern Languages, RE and Social Subjects
Pupil Support and Development – includes all aspects of pupil support and development. The school runs a horizontal PSD system whereby pupils are supported by a team of PSD teachers and a single Principal Teacher of PSD per year group. When pupils join the school in S1 the same PSD Team (where possible) stays with them throughout their time in St Modan’s until they leave in S6. From S1 every pupils is allocated a PSD Teacher who remains the first point of contact for parents with regards to any enquiries or concerns relating to the child. Each year group also has a PT PSD and a link Depute Head Teacher to support our young people and their families. Mrs Docherty (DHT) has overall responsibility for all aspects of Pupil Support and Development (including Child Protection) across the whole school.
