You may be entitled to extra support with the cost of school clothing and school meals. P1-5 children all get free meals but it is important you still apply if you are entitled.
Application forms to apply for the footwear & clothing grants/free school meals for pupils returning to school in August will be available online at the end of June 2024.

Our uniform consists of a maroon school jumper/cardigan, white polo shirt or blouse/shirt and grey or black skirt/pinafore/trousers/shorts. Summer dresses can also be worn. Children can also purchase a light weight P.E. t-shirt. Velcro shoes/trainers should be worn until children are able to tie their own laces. Uniform can be purchased from our supplier by clicking the icon or is available from many local shops and supermarkets. You may be entitled to support with the cost of uniform - see financial support. Pre-loved Uniform can also be obtained from The Harbour for a small donation.
P1-5 children are offered a free school lunch. Children also have the option to bring their own packed lunch or go home for lunch. We are a nut free school so we ask that you are conscious of this when providing your child with a lunch or snack - this includes no Nutella or equivalent spread.

Our indoor learning spaces
Our classrooms are filled with beautiful displays and fun resources to make learning meaningful and engaging. We use our learning walls on a daily basis. Students use these tools to develop their skills and knowledge.
Our outdoor learning spaces
We have a large grass pitch and ash pitch and three playground zones. Our playgrounds have planters and trim trails for students to enjoy exploring and playing together.

The school day starts at 9am and if late due to unforeseen circumstances please enter via the School Office.
Break - 10.30-10.45am
Lunch -12.15pm- 1pm
The school day ends at 3pm.
Children will enter and leave either from their classroom door or wing door. The classes are taken out by their class teacher at the end of the day and children wait in line to be dismissed one at a time . The children waiting in line ensuring their safety at what is a very busy time. At the end of the day we ask parents to stand back on from the doors to allow for easy dispersal. We encourage parents/carers to stand in the same spot each day and share where this spot is with their child as this allows your child and their class teacher to immediately see who is there to collect them. Children can walk home from Primary 4 onwards however a letter of permission must be given to the school in advance.
We are so grateful for your patience at the end of the day on the first few weeks as we get to recognise familiar faces and where to look for them!
Some of our children attend Woody's O.S.C. , if your child is registered to attend O.S.C. then staff will come and collect them from their class at the end of the day. You can find out more information on the out of school care provision by emailing braeheadps@glow.sch.uk . In addition, many children at Braehead get picked up by childminders, our community childminders are familiar faces to us and are well practiced in the P1 end of day arrangements.
Please keep us informed with who is picking up your child. We get to know many faces at pick up over the year including grans, grandads, aunties, uncles, friends, neighbours & childminders!

Morning snack
All children in P1-5 are entitled to a free school meal. There are 2 choices most days and the children choose their lunch each morning with their class teacher. We are very grateful if parents/carers take the time at home the morning or night before to choose a suitable lunch option with their child. The lunch menu can be found on Stirling Council website and also on the school app. A link to the school menu can be found on the Key Information page. Children may also choose to bring a packed lunch. Please note that we have several children in our school with severe nut allergies and therefore are a nut free school. Please keep this in mind when providing snacks and packed lunches.

If your child feels unwell during the school day we will contact you to ask you to come and collect them. Please ensure our office has the most up to date contact details for you and your nominated emergency contacts.
We will look after them. Trips, scrapes, bumps and bruises can happen during the school day and your child will be cared for and given the necessary first aid. Your child will also be given a first aid slip to take home to inform you of the details of the accident and treatment received.
We phone home for all head bumps and for injuries which need further investigating or are causing distress.
