Bruce House

Hello, we are the Bruce House Captains and we are going to be introducing ourselves to all of you and tell you about what we have been doing these past couple of weeks.

Our names are Liam, Holly, Sonny and Norah. The last couple of weeks we have been focusing on Our 5 Improvement targets. Our 5 Improvement Targets are:

Improvement target 1 - epic reading for every class from p4 - p7 (1 - 3’s teachers could play an audio book for their class). It would make reading more enjoyable and sound more fun.

Improvement target 2 - Reading dogs for all classes and if we’re not aloud, dog/cat teddies. It helps make people more comfortable and confident to read out loud in front of people.

Improvement target 3- A digital meeting or an in person meeting with an author.

It could give you an idea of what an author goes through and to ask your favourite author questions.

Improvement target 4- Make sure every class has a class novel and make sure they read at least a chapter every day. It would make it more interesting if you read a new chapter a day instead of forgetting what happened last chapter.

Improvement target 5- More reading resources for pupils in the school. It could help pupils with learning differences become more confident with reading.

We have also been trying to bring House Points back, and it worked! House Points are back and here's how they work.

Regular Token: These can be given by any member of staff for pupils doing good things. These are mostly given out by teachers for wearing your house badge, so remember to wear your house badge! These only give 1 Token but that’s still alot!

Gold Token: These tokens are special and can only be given out by a member of the management team. You get 3 House Points for just this one token. These are rare tokens and you have to be on your best behavior to get one.

Taster Term Update

This term we have a new house leadership team for our Bruce House. Liam and Miley are your Bruce house captains during this taster term. They are looking forward to taking on this challenge and leading Bruce house during our whole school Scots focus and our Burns bonanza.
