Head Teacher Message

Dear Parent,

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new S1 pupils and their families as you take this important next step in your journey through the Bannockburn Learning Community. We are delighted to welcome you to Bannockburn High School and we look forward to getting to know you well.

Our school has a staff of extraordinary dedication and commitment and an extremely supportive group of parents and carers. However, as I never tire of saying, the most impressive thing about our school is its young people. We know that you, our new S1 year group, will be an excellent addition to our school community.

At Bannockburn High School we place values and the concept of the common good at the centre of our school’s aims and the formation of character, at the heart of our school’s endeavours.

Our school is a community of hope and optimism, a dynamic and vibrant place, brimming full of confidence where our young people, our hope for the future, flourish. We are committed to ensuring that our young people leave our school with skills for life, learning and work, appropriate qualifications and believing in values such as wisdom, compassion, integrity and justice.

I hope you find this website, which will be updated by Mr Boyce (Depute Head Teacher S1) and Miss Craig (PT Pupil Support S1), a useful source of information and a way to keep up-to-date with the transition process.

Mrs Karen Hook, Head Teacher

Welcome

Dear Parent,

Welcome to our Primary 7 Transition Information Website for Session 2020/21. We understand that the transition to High School is an anxious time for all in normal times, but during these difficult times we know that must be causing you and your son or daughter to feel even more anxious about the move to Bannockburn High School. We wanted to let you know that we are here to try to ease your mind and to ensure that the transition to Bannockburn High School can be as smooth as possible. We are looking at this time as a time of opportunity and we hope that our virtual transition experience will be a full and exciting experience for all our new S1 pupils.

There are a number of things we are doing, so this website will hopefully allow us to bring it all together and provide you with a central place to keep coming back to if you have any questions. If you do have any questions that you can't see the answer to on this website, please use this form to send your question to us and we'll endeavour to find out the answer for you as soon as possible.

Pupil Support

Dear Parent,

My name is Miss Craig and I will be the Principal Teacher of Pupil Support and your son or daughter's first point of support when they start in S1. I will also be your main point of contact as your son or daughter moves through the years in Bannockburn High School. I am currently meeting with P7 Teachers to share as much information about your son or daughters learning as possible. The more information we have, the better we can provide support as a school, so I am working hard to gather this information. If your son or daughter has a particular Additional Support Need (ASN) then we will also be receiving all of that information from their Primary School and ensuring that this information is shared with all of your son or daughter's teachers in Bannockburn High School.

If you would normally have a Staged Intervention meeting in the Primary School, I will be invited to join that this term and we will continue to meet as a team in S1, and for as long as necessary.

As you can see above, we have also created a Google Classroom. I am looking forward to getting to know all the pupils of S1 through this, so please encourage your son or daughter to log in regularly and see what is going on. None of the activities are compulsory, but it would be lovely to know that everyone is checking in and asking any questions they may have about Bannockburn High School.

I am very excited to meet everyone in the future, when it is safe to do so, but if you would like to get in touch personally with me or Mr Boyce, click on the small "i" in the bottom left of the screen and click 'contact' and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Miss Lauren Craig, PTPS

Google Classroom

We have set up a Google Classroom for all pupils transitioning to Bannockburn High School. Firstly, make sure that your son or daughter is signed in with their @stirlingschools.net account on Google and then click on THIS LINK and enter the code dkwwkuv to join the classroom. Once that's done the P7 Transition class will be on your son or daughter's Google Classroom homepage and we will be posting lots of fun activities to do each day over the next few weeks.

Here's a plan of the daily themes we will be using for our fun activities. Don't worry, none of this is compulsory, it's just a fun way to get involved.
