SMS Bands can supply students with certain instruments such as Tuba, Bass Clarinet, Bari Saxophone, and percussion. Please use the info below:

CONCERT ATTIRE/DRESS:

SMS Band Students will be asked to wear ALL BLACK for CONCERTS. 

(Black dress pants or skirt/leggings, black shirt/blouse, black shoes). Students may wear a tie or necklace. Festive ties of the season are great.

In addition, 8th Grade Band Students are asked to purchase a Red Tie or Scarf. Please order either the tie or the scarf to keep colors consistent:

As students advance in their performing abilities, they often outgrow their beginning level instruments and/or mouthpieces. When this happens, the student’s continued musical growth can be negatively affected by an inferior instrument. Upgrading to a semi-professional or professional quality instrument can be a very good investment for continued success. Always contact a director or your child’s Private Instructor prior to purchasing any instrument for your child! Students chosen to participate in the Wind Ensemble are highly encouraged to purchase a step up instrument. Beginning band instruments will not be adequate to keep up with the musical demands.
