I have been in education for 25 years and fulfilled roles as a classroom teacher, middle leader, senior leader, Headteacher and now Education Officer of a Trust of 18 schools. I am also Director of Education and Schools for a mental health and resilience charity. I have done many things right and made lots of mistakes (that I have learned from) along the way! Alongside this, I have been a trustee of various charities, a school governor and a volunteer.
All these experiences have contributed to establishing Stier Support to support leaders, schools, businesses and charities to flourish in their industry.
If you need support in managing your role, developing your team, finding your feet or even advice on how to manage situations that you haven't had to deal with before, feel free to email or call for a chat.
I am an experienced educational leadership consultant and education professional with a strong track record of supporting people and schools to improve, grow and thrive.
With qualifications in both education and business, I bring together practical classroom experience with strategic leadership insight. I have worked closely with schools, leaders and teams to strengthen leadership practice, improve outcomes and build positive, inclusive cultures. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative and grounded in real-world experience, helping individuals and organisations turn challenges into meaningful, sustainable progress.
My area of expertise is Independent Prep Schools.
I have had over 35 years teaching experience (GCSE Science and A level Chemistry), which have also involved roles at middle and senior management level including Head of Year, NQT mentor, Assessment coordinator and Deputy Headteacher in Outstanding schools. In addition to practical experience, my academic qualifications include a Master’s in Science Education and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
For the last six years I have been supporting a selection of newly appointed senior leaders and managers within the four Outstanding schools, providing effective and practical coaching to develop the skills of future leaders in education. Several of those who have participated in my leadership mentoring programme have progressed on to hold high-level management positions in various schools across the Trust.
I am an education and leadership consultant with extensive experience especially in faith-based schools. Formerly Headteacher of a Jewish secondary school and with a career spanning the maintained and independent sectors, I am also an Anglican priest and try to bring the insights of Spiritual Direction to my work, whether supporting serving Headteachers or training and mentoring future ones.
Inclusion, humour and humanity are my guiding principles as I try to help leaders unknot difficulties and unlock potential in themselves and their teams. I led a school with a 50-place specialist autism provision, and now work closely with a Pupil Referral Unit and two Alternative Provisions for students with mental health challenges, as well as mainstream all-ability and selective schools. I’ve been a school Governor over 3 decades, and am now Trustee of a small MAT.
Leading a school is a challenge and a responsibility like no other – but it should also be fun and life-affirming. My aim is to help leaders feel it that way!
