Q - I can't make move-in day on August 22, 2022, what do I do?
A - We understand, have your child bring supplies in a little bit each day as to not overload them on the first day of school.
Q - Will students have assignments the first week of school?
A - No we will not have any assignments the first week. The students are working on a packet in school and it will be in their portfolio at the end of the year. We are also learning where to go during fire drills, specials, bathroom breaks, lunchtime, recess, how to walk in the halls, wash our hands, how to keep distance in walking lines, learning class jobs, and we're doing informal oral reading, writing, and math assessments.
We are working a lot...however we also take frequent breaks so that students feel refreshed, excited, and ready to face the next task.
Assignments will start TBD.
Q - What is the NWEA?
A - The NWEA is a unique assessment tool used to measure student growth. If your child has taken an NWEA in the past, they have an established baseline; therefore, the test will show teachers and parents how much your child has grown since the last assessment. If a student has never taken an NWEA, their baseline will be established next week. SF students take these assessments three different times during the year (Fall, Winter, Spring).

A - In school students are given 12 blank 3 x 5 cards. Students first number flashcards from 1-12. Second, Under the 1-12 numbers, they will put the "fact" of the week (Aug 29 - Sept 2 facts are "0", for example, 1 + 0). Third, students flip cards over and write their spelling words on the backside (1 word per card). Lastly, on the side with the words, they answer the fact from the other side. Q - I don’t understand how Google Classroom works?
A - Google Classroom is a site created by the teacher. It is a lifeline of information for all students and parents. Students and parents receive an invitation to join. Once the student joins, they can click on instruction videos, tutorials, assignments, and many other teacher links. Students and teachers can also chat and face-to-face "Meet" in Google Classroom. Parents can use GC as a valuable tool to communicate with the teacher and have a birds-eye view of the curriculum. Once you accept the invitation to join you will have access. Please set it to daily updates, not the default weekly.
