In our world vaccines are becoming weaker because the bacteria are getting used to it and becoming stronger to fight back. An idea that we could use is bacteriophages they are viruses that attack bad bacteria while leaving the good bacteria, they are also known as phages.
Phages could be a possible way to help us evolve in medicine because they kill bacteria. If we used this in our medicine it would not hurt us because they are so specialized in killing bacteria that they only kill what they are meant to so thus not hurting us. Phages don't’ hurt the good bacteria in our system only the bad bacteria.
Phages are very smart even when the bacteria evolve to beat them the phages evolve too and attack back. Phages have been tested out on a human who was dying due to a virus. The virus was so strong that if you put it in a pool of alcohol sanitizer it would still survive. They ended up injecting a few hundred phages in him and in a couple of weeks he survived. So when antibiotics don’t work on us humans anymore phages are a possible option for us to turn too.
You could even prevent getting Influenza by keeping your hygiene up to a high standard. Healthy hygiene practices can prevent Influenza like coughing into your arm and washing your hands often. Hygiene up to a good standard and healthy eating helps your immune system stay strong and fight bacteria off easier so it shows how important your lifestyle really is.
Drinking lots of fluids while sick can help with getting better as it helps moistened the mucous membrane in the throats, even adding fruits in your water can help with the taste and extra benefits due to the fruits. Keeping on an extra healthy diet while sick will most certainly change the outcome. Drinking fluids such as water is best because water doesn't have any added sugar or artificial coloring just be careful in where the water is coming from.
The flu in some cases turns out to become deadly and that is one of the reasons why we need to do something about it. About 12,000 - 56,000 people die each year due to Influenza. In 1918 the influenza pandemic, also known as the Spanish flu killed around 50 million people that's more people perished than WW1. (16 million). The flu spread to even the most remote places like the Arctic and goes to show that even the most hidden places can be affected. Although this was in 1918 and we now have vaccines to prevent the flu but the bacteria are getting used to them and soon the vaccines won’t be as effective.
