Services

The four primary components to a comprehensive school counseling program are management, delivery, foundation, and accountability. The delivery system is the primary way I work with and support students. The services in the delivery system are highlighted below.

Direct Student Services:

In-person interactions between school counselors and students. ASCA outlines Mindsets & Behaviors for Student success that help students improve achievement, attendance, and discipline. Implementing classroom guidance lessons that align with program goals allows school counselors to interact with each individual student in the school. Individual meetings with students and small group work is focused on identifying a goal and working towards achieving it.

Indirect Student Services:

Collaboration: School counselors work with multiple individuals towards a common goal and share responsibilities for related tasks. This could look like crisis response, advisory boards, parent workshops, etc.

Referrals: When student needs exceed beyond the training and responsibilities of a school counselor role. Referrals can be given for academic support, social/emotional support, and future planning support. School counselors have community referrals that will be given to families.

Consultation: Seeking or providing additional advice and information to help best meet individual student needs
