Neha: My idea for senior design is to make an app like tinder but for food. It will help with indecisiveness. It will allow users to choose a location radius just like tinder. They will have many different options such as to-go, takeout, cuisines, how much they wanna spend, and etc. They will swipe right if they want it and swipe left if they don't for cuisines there will be two displayed and they will choose one over the other until there is only one option left. The app will match the user with their perfect restaurant and recommend dishes as well as review about the restaurant. My goal is to work with computer and software engineers.
Joy: My ideal senior design project would be something technology-related that can improve people's lives better. Specifically, I want to develop a smartphone for seniors that they can use easier but still enjoy various features. Some default features would be: big text size, simple UI, and straightforward information. I want to work with people who are good at brainstorming and expressing their ideas so that we can all stay active during the progress of the project. I, especially , want students who are similar field as me such as CS, EE, or CPE but have different strengths. My problems would be that smartphones are too complicated the seniors to use, and not many people helping seniors with how to use them in detail. I would like to improve the life of seniors by enjoying various features on devices, though there might be privacy issues or risks that seniors just might not be interested in at all.
Candida: A senior design concept that I would want to pursue next year could potentially be utilized to help people in their everyday lives. I would be interested in using sensors in order to track one's heart rate and bodily movements to essentially classify if an individual is in the state of a panic attack. This could also possibly be tied into an app that would track these sensors constantly, as the sensors would be placed in items an individual wears daily such as a watch or glasses. So far I have been able to reference research and development done by members of IEEE on a similar use of sensors, however, to track those with Dementia, and I think this would ideally frame what I would want to do. In regards to the team, partnering with CPE and EE would be the best option.
