Prior to the start of each semester, you will receive a reminder email to submit a set of teaching materials. Each requirement is listed below:
Syllabus
Sending your syllabus ahead of the semester is an important part of teaching at Stern. Syllabi are posted for students to review during the registration process - this helps them design their schedule, and provides them with an understanding of expectations for your class. Information on designing a syllabus can be found under the Teaching Guidelines section of this website.
Undergraduate & Graduate Syllabus Posting
Once you've completed your syllabus, please send a copy directly to your Administrative Aide. The department will be post the syllabus on your behalf.
Book & Case Orders
Each professor is required to submit a book order for their course(s). It is important you send the department your request no later than one month prior to the start of class, as our bookstore requires time to process each order. The bookstore will not be able to honor special requests if they are sent after this time. A book order form can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Please submit your completed book order to your assigned Administrative Aide.
As a professor at NYU Stern, you have several ordering options:
Standard textbooks: you may order standard textbooks for your course. Textbooks will be stocked in the NYU Bookstore for student purchase.
Digital cases: digital case packets can be created for student purchase in the bookstore. Case packets typically include, but are not limited to Harvard Business School cases. Students additionally have the option to print out the digital cases. Order processing time is typically much shorter for a digital case packet. A digital key is sent to the professor to access the master copy online.
Hard copy cases: hard copy case packets require several weeks to process. Cases are bound into a hard copy packet, and are available for purchase in the bookstore. A master copy is sent to the Marketing Department and is given to the professor.
Teaching Assistant
Pending course enrollment numbers, you may be entitled to a teaching assistant to assist with grading and other responsibilities. Please contact your department's Administrative Coordinator for additional information including the posting of a job ad, and hiring procedures.
