Admissions Policies

Stepping Stones Learning Academy admits any student regardless of race, gender, nationality, and or religion, into the elementary and secondary educational program provided that all state child care regulations and school policies have been met.  Stepping Stones does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gener, nationality or religion in the hiring of our staff.  Please see the state regulated nondescrimination policy below: 

“It is the policy of the State of Maryland that all public and publicly funded schools and school programs operate in compliance with: (1) Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964; and (2) Title 26, Subtitle 7 of the Education Article of the Maryland Code, which states that public and publicly funded schools and programs may not: (i) Discriminate against a current student, a prospective student, or the parent or guardian of a current or prospective student on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability; (ii) Refuse enrollment of a prospective student, expel a current student, or withhold privileges from a current student, a prospective student, or the parent or guardian of a current or prospective student because of an individual's race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability; or (iii) Discipline, invoke a penalty against, or take any other retaliatory action against a student or parent or guardian of a student who files a complaint alleging that the program or school discriminated against the student, regardless of the outcome of the complaint.” 

POLICIES FOR ADMISSION

1) Appications for admittance will be accepted throughout the year

2) Acceptance is based on space availability, academic/social readiness, and results from the pre-enrollment survey.

3) Students entering the prekindergarten program must be 4 years of age by September 1st. 

4) Students entering the Kindergarten program must be 5 years of age by September 1st.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

1) Willingness by both the student(s) and the parent(s) to be motivated an an inegral part of the educational program here at SSLA

2) Completion of Pre-enrollment survey by the previous school

3) Completion of enrollment forms, signed by parent(s), including pertinent health records (health inventory, vaccination record, and lead screening for students under the age of six), transfer of records form, and payment information

4) In good financial standing with previous private school or day care facility attended

5) Payment of SSLA's registration and supply fee (Non-refundable)

*It is expected that all students entering our pre-kindergarten 4 program be toilet trained.  All students should be able to use the bathroom independently.  Training pants/Pull-ups are not permitted.  SSLA reserves the right to have the student withdrawn until training is complete.
