Ghent is the third largest city of country Belgium. It is capital and largest city of the East Flanders province.
The city started as a settlement at the confluence of the Rivers Scheldt and Leie and later in the late Middle Ages became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe.
It is historical city with a lot of cathedrals and beautiful streets. Ghent is a port and university city.
During the Roman period that a comunity of note began to grow near the confluence of two rivers Scheldt and Leie.
