Cabins

Boys and girls cabins are separated at Camp Colman. There will be approximately 10 students per cabin, and at least one parent volunteer who has been vetted and cleared by Washington State Patrol and through Steilacoom's volunteer background check. During the evening and night hours a team of teachers will patrol the student sleeping areas and complete bed checks at 10PM and again at midnight. Parent chaperones will also have a way to contact Pioneer and camp staff in the middle of the night, if necessary.

YMCA Camp Colman also provides staff of about 15 to help run class groups and all camp activities throughout the week. 

During the day, study groups of approximately 20 campers are paired with at least two adults along with their YMCA counselors. During the evening and night hours a team of teachers will patrol the student sleeping areas, while parent volunteers will stay in the cabins with students.

All cabins have shower and restroom facilities for its occupants. Restrooms all have doors that lock, so nothing communal about these private areas.

During the day, campers must travel in teams of at least three and with a counselor/adult if they are leaving an area to go use the restroom.
