DISASTER STRIKES SEU
On the afternoon of May 4, 1922, twin tornados struck Austin. The second of which, estimated to be an F4 on the Fujita scale, touched down near the Texas State Cemetery, moved across Travis Heights, and hit St. Edward's University. The tornado caused extensive damage to several campus buildings, including the natatorium and Holy Cross Hall. One student was killed when the roof of Holy Cross Hall collapsed. In the following months the university began aggressive capital campaign to raise the funds needed to repair the damage.
