Faculty Survey Results Available: What We Learned from the Faculty Survey

What is OER?

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research materials that are freely available for use, adaptation, and distribution. OER materials can include textbooks, assignments, quizzes, and multimedia resources that can be customized to fit specific course needs.

Why we care

By adopting OER faculty make education more equitable for all students by significantly reducing or even eliminating the cost of textbooks and course materials, making education more equitable for all students. Additionally, OER empowers educators to customize and continually improve course content, ensuring it remains relevant and responsive to both academic goals and student needs.

How We are Supporting You

We are using Fall 2024 Faculty Survey results to plan support for faculty interested in expanding OER usage, including developing a stipend-funded cohort program, offering workshops on OER availability, and providing services to help faculty find, adapt, or create OER. See Faculty Grants, Faculty Development and Finding and Creating for details.

Resources

Watch the provided playlist of videos from Iowa State University for an overview of how to create, curate and build OER.
