The following rules of use have been implemented in order to ensure that our one-of-a-kind materials will be available to researchers for years to come. Library Management reserves the right to add additional requirements on a case-by-case basis when the safety and security of the artifacts demands it.
No food or drink of any kind is allowed in the reading room. Anyone with these items in their possession upon arrival will be asked to leave them at the library front desk for the duration of their visit.
Only 1 box may be on the table at a time. Only 1 folder may be out of the box at a time. Documents should be maintained in the exact order they are arranged in each file.
Archival materials may not be checked out, nor may they be removed from the reading room.
Unless otherwise stated, researchers are permitted to use phone cameras to photograph materials.
Patrons are prohibited from using library equipment to scan or photocopy archival materials. Requests for scans and photocopies must be directed to archives staff. Munday Library reserves the right to deny reproduction requests based on staff availability, copyright concerns, preservation issues, and other factors.
No pens, markers, or highlighters are permitted in the reading room. Researchers are allowed to bring pencils, laptops, personal travel scanners, paper for note taking, and phones.
Make no marks or erasures on any document. Strips of paper will be provided to use as bookmarks/flags if needed.
Researchers must exercise all possible care to prevent damage to materials. They are irreplaceable.
Please wash (and dry) your hands before entering the reading room and working with archival materials. Patrons will only be asked to wear protective gloves if deemed necessary by library staff.
Researchers will be supervised by a member of the library staff for the duration of their visit.
All permissions needed for publication are the researcher’s responsibility.
