MUNDAY LIBRARY / ARCHIVES & SPECIAL COLLECTIONS / DIGITAL EXHIBITS / PRESIDENTS OF SEU /
Years in Office: 1972-1984
Brother Walsh was the first (and, to date, only) St. Edward’s alumnus to serve as president. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, where he specialized in curriculum and instruction. At SEU he served as a member of the faculty, division chairman, and academic dean before becoming president.
Br. Walsh oversaw the creation of the Freshman Studies Program, Honors Program, internship programs, and new classes (such as Research and Critical Missions). He was also president when the university received the largest financial donation in its history (at the time) to build the Scarborough-Phillips Library (now Munday Library).
