Premont Hall
Is This Thing On? (January 2022)
The Topper Radio studio is at the end of the hallway on the second floor of Premont Hall, isolated except for a few professors' offices. My radio show co-host, Bella Harris, and I were walking down the hallway to the studio for our 8pm show when we heard a voice coming from the end of the hallway. It was a younger, feminine voice, and it got louder as we approached the studio. We reasoned that it was another member of the club whose radio show ran longer than anticipated (though the people who typically broadcasted before us were two girls at 6pm and a guy at 7pm). We listened to the singular, muffled voice for a few seconds, and we resolved to open the door after we heard it stop talking so we were less likely to interrupt. It stopped a second later, and we approached the door, I unlocked it, and the motion sensor lights turned on as we opened it. We were greeted with an empty room: the computer was off, which meant the radio was not broadcasting, and there was no host to be found. We have no idea who or what was in the studio before us, and we are sure that the voice could not have come from another room in the hallway. All of the offices around the studio are primarily occupied by older, male professors, who we doubt had office hours at that time.
