ASVAB is an acronym for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. The Student Testing Program, a government initiative, introduced the ASVAB in 1968. All military service branches later adopted it in 1974. As research into the test’s validity grew, it became clear that it also applied to civilian occupations, and the ASVAB CEP was born.
While the ASVAB is the program’s foundation, we like to remind participants, educators, and parents that the ASVAB CEP is much more than just a test. It is a comprehensive career exploration and job readiness planning program that allows students to learn about occupations that match their skills and interests and understand the various ways to get there.
