EIGHT SIX THREE LTD:
ALANA TAM
HKPUSD:
ANGUS CAMPBELL
HONG KONG UNIVERSITY:
MARVIN CHUNG
Jersey Poon is an architect, lecturer, and researcher. Her path, however, has not been linear—studying in the UK and Hong Kong, then working in commercial practice, where she learned the realities of the industry. Leading her to District Development Unit (DDU), an impact enterprise working to change how people build their homes and communities. She is now Sustainability Lead and Project Architect at DDU, working on affordable housing and community projects across Hong Kong, China, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Palau, while also teaching at HKU. In this talk, Jersey shares how her journey wasn't just a job change, but a fundamental shift in how she sees the role of the architect—as initiators rather than service providers—finding projects, building networks, and designing with, not for—both in her practice and in how she teaches.
Tam is an architect based in Hong Kong. Her professional background involves significant involvement in the EIGHT SIX THREE's architectural projects.
Prof. Campbell’s research and teaching focuses on creative social and technological innovation by co-designing sustainable products, services and systems. He is particularly interested in lay design and the role of technology in extending human capabilities. He has undertaken interdisciplinary design research

I was one of the first people to take the new IBCP program in Hospitality and Culinary Arts. As I knew from the very beginning that I wasn’t good at academic writing, I have a great passion for food, particularly desserts and pastries. And so, with the full support of my family, I took the opportunity offered by the program to learn more about the culinary and hospitality world during my studies at the International Culinary Institute Hong Kong. After graduating from high school, I studied at the International Culinary Institute in Hong Kong for their High Diploma program in Baking and Pastry Arts, where I learned most of my pastry skills (up to 90%). The program was mainly practical, and you will know what it is like to work in a commercial kitchen, which later helped me a lot in my work and in building my future career. Then, after graduating from the International Culinary Institute in Hong Kong, I pursued a top-up degree in the UK. I attended University College Birmingham for their Bachelor of Science in Bakery and Patisserie Technology, where I gained a deeper understanding of food science and laboratory techniques. Lastly, I now work at the Hong Kong Jockey Club as a part-time member of the pastry kitchen staff. Furthermore, I will also talk more detail how decision-making and my unique path have shaped me. Make the most of your time in school, utilise your resources, and stay curious! Stay Passionate about what you like to do, as this will inspire you to keep going, no matter how arduous the journey is.
