Course Objectives: This course will focus on students working towards their individual IEP Goals, career development, employability skills, workplace safety, SCANS (The Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills)/soft skills, and independent living topics.
Daily Procedures:
1. Students will come to the resource room ready to work with needed materials and Chromebook charged and ready.
2. Students will spend two/three days a week of their structured study hall time working on transition activities.
3. Students will work independently, in groups, or as a whole class. It is important they are mindful of other students in the room. When they need help, ask in a respectful manner being sure not to disrupt other students.
4. Students are encouraged to be open when talking about their futures and be flexible in their thinking when researching topics.
Expectations:
-Students are required to complete the daily work and activities in order to earn participation points for the day.
-Students should be engaged in class discussions and focusing on the topics that are being discussed.
-All distracting materials (phones, other homework, etc) should be put away during class.
Grading: This course is pass/fail course. Students must complete the daily activities and be fully engaged in order to earn their participation points for the day. In order for students to “pass” the course they need to have a minimum of 160 points out of 180.
