If student scored 18/20 or above on pretest, they will be tested on Challenge words in addition to On Level Words.

If student scored 14/20-17/20 on pretest, they will be tested on On Level words. Challenge words will be Extra Credit.

If a student scored 14/20 or below, they will be tested on emerging list, On Level list and Challenge list will be Extra Credit.

Homework Expectations

Homework is meant to give students a chance to practice skills, finish work, and build responsibility.

What to Expect

• Homework is assigned Monday through Friday.

• Students should expect about 20–30 minutes of homework each night.

• Students may have additional work when they have makeup work to complete.

• Homework may include reading, spelling practice, finishing classwork, or occasional Religion or Social Studies work.

• Assignments for the week are written in the student assignment notebook every Monday.

How Parents Can Help

Please provide a consistent time and place for homework and encourage your child to complete their work independently.

You are always welcome to check that homework is finished, but the goal is for students to take responsibility for knowing what they have to do and bringing it back to school.

If homework is regularly taking much longer than 30 minutes, please let me know.

When Homework Is Missing

Students will complete missing homework the next day. Clear deadlines will be given for assignments. Late work is always accepted. Missing work will be entered into Powerschool as a zero until the work is turned in. Points are deducted for late submissions. 

If homework becomes a repeated issue, I will reach out so we can work together to help your child get back on track.

Our goal is to help students become responsible, independent learners while remembering that they are still learning these skills.
