Dear Parent(s),
My name is Kelly Jampedro (JAM-PEE-DRŌ) and I am pleased to announce that I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher for the 2020-21 school year. I am happy to return to teaching K5 as my passion lies in early childhood education. Prior to joining St. Charles last year , I spent 4 years teaching First grade, so I am very aware of where you child needs to grow and progress throughout this year to achieve reading and writing success. Together we will journey on a path that provides your child with all the experiences and skills needed to be a successful independent learner as well as a good friend and a productive citizen.
I began my teaching career in the state of Pennsylvania, where I was born and raised, as an elementary Spanish teacher. I later moved to IL, where I taught 3rd grade bilingual education to children of migrant workers in Joliet. We moved a third time and I ended up in the beautiful state of Wisconsin where I taught K5 at the Milwaukee Urban League Academy of Business & Economics . As a young educator it was my mission to provide a world-class education to at-risk youth. It was a very difficult, yet rewarding time of my life working with these students, but it helped me to grow as a person and in my faith as well. I built my home in Pewaukee in 2005 and I began work as a Second grade teacher in Waukesha. I had my son, Rocco that year and took a 5 year break from my career to raise him and later, my daughter Mia. I then returned to work once my daughter was 3 and spent the following 4 years teaching First grade at Queen of Apostles School. My children are now 12(Mia) and 15 (Rocco) and my daughter will be part of the 7th grade class at St. Charles this year, while my son makes the transition into his Sophomore year at Arrowhead High School.
I have had many experiences in my career that have shaped the way I view education and sharpened my skills in the areas of differentiated instruction and classroom management. I am a very nurturing and energetic instructor. I try to help children find joy in their tasks and a love for learning as well as encourage their independence, build their confidence and teach them about their relationship with God. As a parent of two completely different children I have an understanding of the importance of each child’s unique identity and interests and I embrace what they bring to my classroom and use it to drive my instruction. I know this will be a great year for all of us! If you have any questions/concerns throughout the school year please do not hesitate to call/email me. I am always here to work with you on our top priority, your child!
Sincerely,
Kelly Jampedro
