Reverends Augustine and Shelton will participate in an armchair discussion to introduce the IDAT program to the public and lay the theological and biblical foundation for pushing back against narratives that promote inequity within Christianity. The event will include a dinner service and an opportunity for members of the public and cohort members to meet and share their experiences.

IDAT 2026 REGIONAL AGENDA

Facilitators: Rev. Dr. Jay Augustine and Rev. Dr. Joey Shelton
Reverends Augustine and Shelton will lead the cohort members through the development of a vision, values, and objectives for the 2026 IDAT Regional Agenda. This session will build on work done in sessions and independently in the months leading up to the summit. The Agenda will frame the work of 2026 as the cohort members shift into their alumni roles and focus on collective action for narrative change.

ACTION PLANNING IN BREAKOUT GROUPS

Cohort members will develop their 12-month Action Plans for the projects they have prioritized. Facilitators will provide one-on-one guidance in the development of these plans. Focus will be on identifying clear action steps, resources needed, key church and community contacts, and ways the IDAT team and their relationships with their fellow cohort members at other churches could support their work. This session builds on work done in sessions and independently in the months leading up to the summit.

Dr. Robert P. Jones, Rev. Dr. Joey Shelton, and Karrie Gaspard-Hogewood will discuss important themes such as narrative change, truth-telling as resistance to white Christian nationalism, lament, and the power of narrative to shape history.
The panel discussion will be followed by a Meet & Greet with the panelists and a book-signing with Dr. Robert P. Jones.
