Mrs. Heckman Memorial Garden
Mrs. Helen Heckman passed away on February 4th, 2021. She had been St. Bartholomew's principal for seven years prior to her unexpected death. Mrs. Heckman meant so much to all of us, especially those of us who had her as our principal from kindergarten to 7th grade, nearly our entire St. Bartholomew career. She was an inspiration to all students. She was a fair and good woman, and she was an expert on what she did. She knew students by name, and showed both students and staff that she truly cared about them as well as the betterment of the St. Bartholomew community as a whole. Her ability to lead inspired many of us to do our best to help be leaders in our community. She had three sons, Patrick, David, and Ryan, and was married to Chuck Heckman for 33 years. She left a big impact on our school, and we continue to try and live like her.
The garden dedicated to her is next to the kindergarten building. It has wind chimes with inscriptions on them, beautiful plants surrounding them. Those plants are tree hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, clematis, rudbeckia, peonies, and dwarf echniacea.
