This is me in 1st grade, 1971-72.
I was born in Nashville, but grew up all over the country. After reading A Tale of Two Cities as a freshman in high school, I knew that whatever I did as a “grown-up,” it would have to be something to do with books. Once I had earned my BA in English from Earlham College, I moved to New York City to work at the New York Public Library, Main Research Branch, and then later at Simon & Schuster Publishing.
Upon returning to Nashville, I worked for Rutledge Hill Press and the UT College of Social Work Library before returning to school to gain my MA in English from MTSU. Working at the Center for Popular Music while earning my degree convinced me I really just needed to be a librarian, so I immediately moved to Knoxville where I earned my MS in Information Science. I met my husband, David, in Knoxville, but convinced him to move back with me to Nashville.
I worked as the Documents Conservator at the Tennessee State Library and Archives for five years before I decided that I wanted to be a school librarian. I started work at St. Bernard Academy in 2004 and love it. I am also a busy mom of two boys and spend what free time I can muster reading.
