Reading and Viewing, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Students complete a variety of activities designed to increase their skills in effective communication in Standard English.
Learning activities aim to engage students imaginatively and critically to expand their experiences and views of the world. Students study a range of texts, which may include a novel, short stories, a play, a film and various written and audio-visual persuasive texts. Students respond to these texts in a variety of written modes.
Students will consider the features and process of creative writing and put these techniques into action in creating their own texts.
Students analyse arguments and examine persuasive language in media texts, as well as perform a persuasive oral speech that explores current media issues.
