Counseling & Life Skills
September 2026
Welcome back!!
Life Skills for September will focus on:
PreK-4- Kindness and Recess Skills
5-8- Kindness and Leadership Skills
Grades K-8 will have the mandatory Empowering God's Children lessons starting on 9-14. There is a form to opt out if you do not wish your student to be in class for this instruction. If you have any questions regarding the program, please feel free to contact me at ssolinski@stbartseb.com.
Some new programs to look out for will be a Middle School Mentor program, for 6-8 grades. Also, there will be more specialized groups including academic/study/organizational skills and social skills groups held during lunch periods. Group topics will change for 2nd Marking Period.
Looking forward to an amazing year!!
Life Skills will be held bi-weekly in each classroom, including Pre-K. Lessons follow the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic Social Emotional Learning) standards for Social Emotional Learning (SEL), including topics from the following domains: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Each month will have a particular focus, and each grade will be learning about the same topic at the appropriate developmental level.
Counseling services continue to be offered during the school day. Please see the "Counseling Services" tab above for additional information. If your student received services during the 2024-2025school year, new consent forms will automatically be sent home. Please note on the form whether you are accepting or declining services for this academic year. It is helpful for me to know whether you will plan to continue services so I can properly arrange my schedule, and ensure a space is available for your student. Please note that frequency of sessions is based on the acuity of the issues presented, however students can always request a session on a week they are not scheduled.
It is my sincere pleasure to be the guidance counselor at St. Bartholomew School. It is a privilege to be part of your student's growth and development, as they journey through these formative years.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email with any additional questions or concerns.
