Counseling & Life Skills
September 2025
Welcome back!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful summer break! I'm looking forward to resuming Life Skills classes with our students at St Bart's!
Some additional information for 2024-2025 school year:
Lunch Bunch will be offered regularly for students in 3rd grade and above.
We will be starting a mentoring program utilizing students in grades 7 & 8. Students who would like to participate can fill out a form and will need approval by core subject teachers.
Life Skills will be held bi-weekly in each classroom, including Pre-K. Lessons follow the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic Social Emotional Learning) standards for Social Emotional Learning (SEL), including topics from the following domains: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Each month will have a particular focus, and each grade will be learning about the same topic at the appropriate developmental level. We are starting in the domain of social awareness and responsible decision-making, focusing on the topic of promoting kindness in our school, from the youngest student through our veteran 8th grade. Life Skills classes also include a focus mindfulness skill, starting with mindful breathing.
Counseling services continue to be offered during the school day. Please see the "Counseling Services" tab above for additional information. If your student received services during the 2024-2025school year, new consent forms will automatically be sent home. Please note on the form whether you are accepting or declining services for this academic year. It is helpful for me to know whether you will plan to continue services so I can properly arrange my schedule, and ensure a space is available for your student. Please note that frequency of sessions is based on the acuity of the issues presented, however students can always request a session on a week they are not scheduled.
It is my sincere pleasure to be the guidance counselor at St. Bartholomew School. It is a privilege to be part of your student's growth and development, as they journey through these formative years.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email with any additional questions or concerns.
