Storm Theater

SHOWS FROM 2019 TO PRESENT

THE LOWER DEPTHS

2022 ACADEMIC SERIES - With our new Studio Theater, we added a fourth show to our season. Produced entirely in the acting classes, Storm Theater has begun an 'Academic Series' of great plays from history. For our first, we tackled a classic of character study from Russia in 1902. Audiences loved the play and the space in which it was performed.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

2022 SPRING MUSICAL - A triumphant return to our stage musicals, as well as an impressive joint venture with Shelburne middle school. The Wizard of Oz had two different sets of leads - one from each school, and amazed everyone with our range of talent, as well as an innovative take on the classic tale!

THE DOVETAIL MURDERS

2021 FALL VHSL ONE-ACT - With whip-smart actors and five ever-changing doors, we once again made it to the State finals in our first attempt in Class 3, earning 3rd place. Oliver Oakes received and outstanding acting award, and the entire cast earned accolades from all!

CYRANO DE BERGERAC

2022 FALL MAINSTAGE - The first live, indoor play since the pandemic! Coming back, we weren't sure what to expect, but audiences came out strong to support this brand new cast of over 30 students - including 5 different Cyranos (one for each act!)

AESOP'S FABLES REDUX

2021 OUTDOOR PRODUCTION - The only play in the season to have an actual live audience, our team put together this charming Children's Play the moment Covid restrictions loosened up enough to allow spectators outdoors. With only a month left before seniors departed, we staged this show with only 11 rehearsals! It brought a smile to everyone, and let us know things were going to get better soon!

TEN DAYS

2021 SPRING VIRTUAL VHSL ONE-ACT - This production, which was recorded and uploaded to a virtual competition, was entirely conceived by the cast. Taking its inspiration from the Nellie Bly report, Ten Days was a harrowing original story of a woman struggling with reality after child's tragic death and her internment in a mental institution in 1887. It won the second place trophy at the VHSL State Competition, and acting accolades for both Cece Bernard and Rhiannon Wiseman.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES

2020 FALL 6-FOOT SERIES - Our final play in the film series was so ambitious, we had to split it into two parts. The nearly two-hour and forty minute play was adapted by us directly from the book, and contained most of Anne's wonderful adventures, anchored by a delightful performance from Cece Bernard as Anne. It was a strong way to end our series, and a remarkable achievement from all of our student actors.

WAR OF THE WORLDS

2020 FALL 6-FOOT SERIES - The second play in our 6-Foot Separation pandemic series. We took a documentary film approach to the classic Mercury Theater radio play in order to give the video the same in-the-moment feel that was in the original Orson Welles' production. With limited lighting and tech available, we were able to conjure a Martian invasion out of thin air for a visceral Halloween experience.

HIS GIRL FRIDAY

2020 FALL 6-FOOT SERIES - Our response to the Pandemic shutdown generated a three show video series in the Fall. With no costumes, few props, no lights or sound and only a few weeks to rehearse, our actors put up a fun, wild, fast talking version of this classic comedy. All the plays in the series were done in a staged radio play format, filmed and posted online.

FOOTLOOSE

2020 SPRING MUSICAL - This amazing show sadly only got one performance . . . it's final dress rehearsal. It was shut down the night before opening due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We were able to show off the wonderful production in a last minute gathering of friends and family to a rapturous response. It is a shame that more people did not get to see the marvelous work of our talented students.

GILGAMESH

2019 VHSL ONE-ACT - Performed in a traditional ritualistic style, this ancient myth got a new life. The students invented an entire chanting musical score and ceremonial movement to make it a truly memorable event. It garnered 3rd Place in the State Competition. Erin Trost won an outstanding actor award at States. Little did we know at the time our program was about to get totally upended in just a few short months!

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME

2019 FALL MAINSTAGE - A dazzling rendition of the renowned story. We were fortunate to be the first in the region to perform this Tony award winner. Our actors and crew put together an inventive multi-media production with a stand-out performance by Trinity Walker as Christopher.
