Grade 6

English: 

• Sixth graders have been busy reviewing and learning about how to create effective sentences and word choices in their writing. They are learning how to correct sentence fragments, run-on sentences, eliminating extra words, using precise words, and using sensory details in their writing. 

• They are also reviewing the different sentence types including simple, compound, and complex sentences. 

• Chapter 3 Test will be this week: Thursday, January 16th 

Science:

• Sixth graders have just finished up the chapter about Earth's water, and they are moving on to Earth's atmosphere next. 

• Over the next couple of weeks, they will become familiar with describing Earth's atmosphere and how energy is transferred in the atmosphere. 

• Then we will move on to air currents and learn more about the importance of our air quality.
