- Homework: The children will have Math, ELA and Spelling homework most nights during the week. Please help create good habits by having your child be responsible for placing their homework in their folder and putting it in their backpack to be returned to school the next day. There will be no homework on the weekends. If missing homework becomes a habit, it will be made up during recess.
- Math:Please be aware that the word problems will most likely have to be read to your child. They are not meant for the children to read them, as they may be above most first grade reading levels, at least in the beginning of the year.
Vocabulary Notebooks: These will go home every night and should be reviewed daily. The vocabulary notebook should be signed by an adult or older sibling after each night they have read (one signing per day).. Please do not have your child write in these notebooks at home. These words are important for developing their reading, plus…your child can earn rewards for reading them daily!
Spelling: Please practice spelling for the Fundation trick words, review words and current words of the unit. Challenge your child by doing Sentences with them as well. I will be sending these words beginning of each Unit.
