Avenza is a mobile-mapping app that can be used on phones and tablets. Along with a map store that lets you access maps from all sorts of agencies (USFS, USGS, counties and towns, etc.), it also lets you use your own georeferenced PDF maps. By using Avenza, CPW raptor monitors can navigate around their parks using maps produced by the Resource Stewardship program that display the locations of raptor nests and the observation points for zone monitoring. Avenza also has a suite of tools that raptor monitors can use to mark the locations of new nests, measure the distance between themselves and nests they are observing, and record hiking or driving routes that they take while in the park.
