The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has three primary duties regarding 9-1-1 service in the State of Colorado:
Oversight of "Basic Emergency Service" (§ 40-15-201, C.R.S.)
Approval of Emergency Telephone Charges (§ 29-11-102, C.R.S.) and administration of the State 9-1-1 Surcharge (§ 29-11-102.3, C.R.S.)
Annual reporting to the General Assembly on the state of 9-1-1 service in Colorado (§ 40-2-131, C.R.S.)
Next Generation 9-1-1 Implementation. This work is primarily being accomplished through the work of the Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet) Users Group.
Promoting voluntary implementation of common 9-1-1 service capabilities. See PSAP Service Capabilities for more information.
2025 GIS Informational Series Materials
In 2025, the Colorado 9-1-1 Program hosted a GIS Informational Series to assist PSAPs and 9-1-1 Authorities with the information they need to prepare NG9-1-1 GIS datasets. All sessions were recorded, and the recordings and materials can be found in the folder below.
