- Find out what happened during the 2013 flooding and how it impacted the ecosystem in Eldorado Canyon State Park. Check out the photos too!
- Read about each of the eight species involved in the Colorado Critter Challenge on the species profile page.
- To learn more about each species' response to the flood, fill out the worksheets for the eight Colorado Critters.

- Use the information from the species worksheets to complete the Match-Up Worksheet and determine the winners of each round.
- Repeat this process for Round 2 and Round 3, using the winners you selected from the previous round. You may wish to print out a blank bracket to help you figure out which animals advance to the next round.
**Remember, you are trying to determine which species was best able to continue living in their preferred habitat of Eldorado Canyon State Park. You are not trying to determine which did or did not survive the flood. If a species is forced to leave this habitat, this means that it was significantly impacted by the flood, even if it can continue to survive in a different habitat.**

- Submit your completed bracket here! To be entered to win a prize, you must submit your bracket by Friday, April 1st. Each class should submit ONE bracket.
STEP 4 - The Results...See How You Did!

- At noon on April 6th, the winners of each round will be announced along with a completed Match-Up worksheet for each pair.
- Once the winners of a round are announced, you can score your bracket. Scroll to the bottom of this page to find out how.
- We will score your bracket too. At the end of the activity, the three classrooms with the highest scores will receive a prize from Colorado Parks and Wildlife!

After the Colorado Champion is revealed, participating classes will have the opportunity to schedule a Zoom call with a Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff member to talk about how they did. Students will be given an opportunity to ask questions and if they think that a different animal should have been selected as the winner, they can discuss this with us. We are open to hearing their argument!
