Swim Unit in Physical Education: The Swim Unit is an important part of the Starpoint Middle School Physical Education curriculum, as it is a continuation of the RIS Physical Education swim program. During the unit, a bathing suit and towel are required; flip flops and goggles are highly recommended. Students will bring their belongings in a bag each class and then take them home after each class; wet bathing suits should not be left in lockers. Students will be provided with a locker during class time only. They will have time in the locker room for quick showering and changing before and after during the class period. All students are required to take off/out all jewelry. Please make sure students have a zip lock bag or small container to put their jewelry in so that it does not get lost in the lockers.

Sixth grade students will learn continue basic in-water skills such as floating, bobbing, kicking, etc.
The goal is to of increase their comfort for the water, as well as develop basic water safety skills.

Seventh and Eighth grade students will continue to review and advance previous skills, as well as get more in depth to advanced strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, etc.
