Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins March 8-10, 2018

Starpoint High School had another spectacular season as they produced one of the most magical musicals, Mary Poppins. Audiences were amazed as Mary flew into the home, and the hearts, of the Banks Family. And it was another record breaking season for attendance as almost 3,700 people packed the high school auditorium for this year’s show. The students of the cast, crew and orchestra were rehearsing and building since November. And after four months of rehearsal they thrilled audiences with familiar musical numbers such as “Spoonful of Sugar,” “Jolly Holiday,” “Step in Time,” and many more! Magical sets and props were being built for the practically perfect Mary Poppins (Brooke Allen). And, she will be soared above the rooftops of London with her counterpart Bert (Chris Palumbo).

This was one of Starpoint’s finest casts as many outstanding underclassmen returned to the stage this year. Chris Palumbo who played Bert this year was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role for the Kenny Awards last year. Owen Hand who played Northbrook and Valentine this year received a nomination for the Blossom Cohan Award. And Jake Grear who performed as Robertson Ay in Mary Poppins, was the winner of Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role from the Kenny Awards last season. This Wednesday 20 representatives of the musical club will be headed downtown for the Nominations for this year's Kenny Awards. This will be streamed on Facebook Live.
