Annual Grade 5 Christmas Sock Exchange
We are excited to continue our annual Christmas Sock Exchange in Grade 5! Each student is asked to bring one pair of Christmas socks, wrapped like a present. On the last day before Christmas break, students will take turns choosing a wrapped pair of socks, so everyone goes home with a fun new pair to wear for the holidays.
If participating is a challenge for any reason, please let me know. I will have a few extra pairs available to ensure every child is included.
A small note: please purchase adult-sized Christmas socks, as they tend to fit Grade 5 students more comfortably than children’s sizes.
Thank you for helping make this festive tradition special for our class!
Field Trip to Telus World of Science
We are planning a trip to Telus World of Science on Wednesday Dec 17. Please go to school cash online to pay the fees. If you are available and would like to accompany us, please let me know.
Have a wonderful evening!
Good afternoon Grade 5 families,
I hope you enjoyed a restful Fall break. Here is a look at our week:
Monday Nov 17, 2025
Speaker's Club Rough copy due
Tuesday Nov 18, 2025
First night of Parent-Teacher Interviews
Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
Thursday Nov 20, 2025
Last day of Swimming Lessons
Friday Nov 21, 2025
I have extended the deadline for the rough copy of the Speaker's Club until Tuesday Nov 18, 2025, as a number of students did not submit it on time. Students were well aware of the due date (we wrote it in agendas, talked about it in class and it is posted on the class website). Please remind your child that it is their responsibility to keep track of due dates, as this is a skill that becomes very important as they progress through school.
We will have a second round of Parent Teacher Interviews on Thursday December 4, 2025. You will receive an email from the office with a link to sign up. If I am seeing you on Tuesday Nov 18, it is not necessary to book again. There are a limited number of slots and I would like to see as many families as possible over the two nights.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

October 29, 2025
It was so wonderful to see your children again as we returned to school! We jumped right back into our routines this week, doing a bit of review along with some new learning.
A few important updates and reminders:
Swimming Lessons
Our swimming lessons will resume tomorrow. Please ensure your child brings their swimsuit and towel.
Halloween Celebration – Friday Afternoon
We will celebrate Halloween on Friday afternoon. Students are invited to bring their costumes to change into at lunchtime. Our annual Halloween Parade will begin at 12:45 p.m., followed by a class celebration. Students may bring an extra snack if they wish.
A letter from Mr. Fountain, our principal, outlining the costume guidelines will be sent home today.
Cooler Weather Reminder
The mornings are getting chilly! Please make sure your child comes prepared with warm outdoor clothing (hat, mittens or gloves, etc.). Students go outside for recess unless the temperature drops below -25°C, and there were quite a few chilly hands today!
Upcoming Spelling Test
We will have a Spelling Test on Thursday, November 6th. The words this week are related to the prefix “trans”:
transportation, translate, transmit, transmitted, transfer, transform, transitioning, and transit.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we settle back into the rhythm of school life. It’s great to be back together!
